Dr. Susana Gonzalez is board certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine. She received her B.A. from the University of Chicago, during which time she was honored as a National Hispanic Scholarship Fund Scholar and was awarded a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Undergraduate Summer Research Fellowship.

After receiving her medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School, she completed her internal medicine residency and gastroenterology fellowship training at the New York Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center where she also served as Chief Gastroenterology Fellow. She then completed an additional fellowship in Interventional Endoscopy also at New York Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center. She then served as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital before accepting a position at Gotham Medical Associates.

Dr. Gonzalez has published original research and authored numerous publications. She was the recipient of a prestigious NIH grant to study endoscopic imaging devices in the detection of gastric cancer. Additionally, she was selected to participate in the first American Gastroenterology Association Women’s Leadership Conference and selected to participate in the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE)’s first Leadership Education and Development (LEAD) Program class. She serves as a council member for the ASGE Membership and Diversity Committee and as a council member of the New York Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.

Dr. Gonzalez's clinical interest spans all gastrointestinal diseases with a focus in pancreaticobiliary diseases, Barrett’s esophagus and the diagnosis and management of gastrointestinal cancers. She performs endoscopy, colonoscopy and specializes in advanced endoscopic procedures including endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), fine needle aspiration (FNA), and radiofrequency ablation.

Dr. Gonzalez is an attending physician at Lenox Hill Hospital and NYU Langone Medical Center where she enjoys teaching medical students, residents, and fellows. She is available for consultation at our Downtown offices. She speaks English and Spanish.
